Curious about dog-powered sports but not sure where to start? Our private introduction lesson is designed to help you and your dog explore activities like Canicross, Canihiking, Bikejoring, Kicksledding and Skijoring. Whether you're completely new to these sports, interested in a specific activity or simply want to make sure you're on the right track, we'll tailor the lesson to you and your dog's experience, abilities and goals. What we'll cover: An introduction to dog-powered sports and how to get started Equipment, harness fitting and proper gear selection Basic commands, training techniques and building a strong partnership with your dog Practical tips for getting started safely and progressing at your dog's pace An opportunity to ask questions and discuss your individual goals Already have equipment? Bring it along! We're happy to check the fit and help you make adjustments where needed. What to expect This is a hands-on, introductory lesson rather than a full trail outing. Some walking and practical exercises will be involved, but no previous pulling experience is required. Dogs of different breeds, ages and experience levels are welcome, including young dogs who aren't ready for pulling activities yet. The focus is on building a good foundation, confidence and positive experiences for both you and your dog. Participants are responsible for dressing themselves and their dogs appropriately for the weather. Lessons are available to participants aged 12 and older. Participants aged 12–17 must have parental permission and be capable of safely handling and controlling their dog independently. A parent or legal guardian must be present during the lesson.
